    This depends on each individuals learning ability as well as confidence in driving on the road. Our aim is to ensure are students are equipped with the right skills not only to pass the driving test but to be a safe and driver with defensive driving skills. Our expert instructors will provide their recommendation on the number of lessons required.
  • What are the types of lessons you offer?
    We provide driving instruction in Automatic and Manual vehicles . You may vary the lengths of the lessons depending on your individual requirements and learning ability. We provide lessons for learner drivers, overseas licence conversions as well as mature drivers wanting to gain specific skills. We provide city driving and freeway driving as well as country driving courses.
  • I’m a nervous driver and I have never driven before, will I be ok to drive on the road?
    It is often daunting to drive in Victoria due to its unique road rules and driving with trams, horses and carriages and hook turns. Even experienced drivers find it challenging at times.   • Can the Instructor provide driving lessons in my own car?
    Yes, our driving instructors are able to provide you with driving lessons in your own vehicle. Quite often our instructors provide refresher courses to students in their own vehicles who have specific requirements. Some of our students have purchased new vehicles and have requested for our instructors to provide them with familiarisation courses in their own vehicles. In order to drive in your own vehicles, you must be a confident driver or experienced learner driver. We regularly provide driving lessons to existing licence holders to brush up on their driving skills. Your vehicle must also have comprehensive Insurance, be registered and in a clean and hygienic condition. Please note that the prices of lessons are the same regardless of whose car is being used for the lesson.
  • I have a Licence from a overseas country. Can I legally drive in Victoria?
    If you have an overseas or interstate licence, you will have six months to convert your licence to a Victorian licence. There are various options available depending on the country your licence was issued and other factors. Please contact our offices if you need any assistance during the overseas licence conversion process.
  • What Payment Methods do you accept?
    The prices indicated on our website are prepaid prices for cash and direct credit to our bank account. You may also pay by credit/debit card (surcharge fees may apply). Please note that all payment needs to be made prior to the lesson. Email us at melb@defensivedriving.com.au for your payment instructions.
  • How long are your packages valid for and what are your cancellation policies?
    Packages and gift vouchers need to be utilised within 6 months of purchase. We require 24 hours notice to reschedule or cancel a lesson or cancellation fees would apply.
  • What are your operating times?
    Our Instructors provide driving instruction 7 days a week. Advertised pricing is valid for individual learner permit holders only from Mondays to Saturdays from 8am to 6pm. There is an additional surcharge applicable on Sundays/Public holidays and for night driving.
  • Do you provide driving Instruction to non learner permit holders?
    Yes we do provide driving instruction to all drivers regardless of age. All agencies, companies and Individuals are welcome to contact our offices for a tailored quote depending on your individual needs and Invoicing requirements.
